Responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19) – updated 8/19/2022

By now, we’re all aware of the seriousness of the Coronavirus and we wanted to reach out to you to remind and/or inform of how seriously we take your personal health as well as our clean standards (both the studio itself and of what we require of ourselves and the people at our studio).

For over 10 years Let’s Cultivate Food has been exercising the same good health and safety measures that the World Health Organization is widely publicly recommending during this time.  We’ve always believed in clean hands and workspace, and provide the same information and tools for doing this during our classes now as we did when we started a decade ago.  We’re also staying on top of any additional information and guidelines that are being advised.

We take every precaution we can to ensure your safety and enjoyment.  Please see additional notes in the FAQ section of the class/event you’ve enrolled in or are considering.

FAQs

Most frequently asked questions and answers

WHAT IS THE RESCHEDULE POLICY?

WINTER WEATHER:

If there is a snow storm or other weather condition which would be significant enough to cause a cancellation, we would reach out to re-schedule the class/event.

We have to travel as well and always have safety as a priority including making sure the road conditions are safe.  The person that signed up for the class/event would receive an email with response requested to ensure they received the cancellation notice.
Weather cancellations are at the sole discretion of LCF.

FOR PUBLIC CLASSES:

Officially (email) notifying us with over 14 days until the event, as a courtesy we will extend to you 100% credit to a future event of your choosing.  If under 14 days notification, your tickets are transferable by you to someone else for the same day/class, but unfortunately not reschedulable.  We also reserve the right to turn away individuals who show symptoms of illness.

(READ the FAQ section on each event page for event specific details which may vary)

Because our “product” is dated events with limited seating, fixed costs, significant time/staff needed per class preparation, we are unable to provide refunds unless specified otherwise.  Thank you for your understanding.

 FOR ALL PRIVATE EVENTS:

A $200 booking deposit is required and is applied toward the total amount.  This will help cover initial costs and also allows us, with confidence, to suggest alternate dates to other interested groups looking for the same selected date.

Reschedules|Cancellations for Private Events:
If your emailed request is more than 14 days from the event, you can reschedule to another date without deposit deduction.  We do ask however that you pay a new booking deposit, to which the full amount of both deposits will go 100% toward your new date.  We can extend this courtesy 1x.

Should your request be made 8-13 days from your reserved date, you would need to pay a new booking deposit and only $100 from your 1st deposit would be carried over.  Requests made 7 days or less would forfeit the initial deposit and a new booking deposit would be required.

Once your group has officially booked a date on our events calendar, we plan for the number of people you provided on the inquiry form. Please provide any changes to your group’s final headcount 10 or more days out from your booked event date.  Should the final headcount of your group change within 10 days from your booked event date, no payment will be refunded as we would have already incurred expenses such as non-refundable food order/purchases, time spent & preparations/setup of your booked dinner/class/event, weekly payments to our staff/team and other infrastructure costs, etc.  We appreciate your understanding.

All reschedule credit extended has no expiration and can be used for any available date in the future for any service we offer.  🎉 So for example, if you had scheduled a Private Chef Dinner for Aunt Edna, and you remembered later on that she made it clear there were to be no parties for her Spring-time birthday, and you cancel this event within the timeframes mentioned above, you may use your extended credit at a future point toward a private family cooking class, for example.  Or her belated birthday in the Winter because she ‘came around’ after speaking to some friends!  You decide, but please allow all courtesy of time possible with regard to notifying us, as we’ve likely already extended a lot of effort planning & customizing details for your special event and let’s face it, we may have to donate the 40 lbs of fresh salmon you ordered which cost way more than the deposit.

Please remember: All cancellations|rescheduling needs to be made by email to letscultivate@gmail.com – That way both parties have something to refer back to and it keeps us organized.

BYO / ALCOHOL POLICIES

FOR PUBLIC CLASSES:

For those 21+ you can certainly BYO and for some events a complimentary glass of wine may be offered.  We do limit the amount of alcohol consumption by any individual to up to (2) glasses and we will not offer any complimentary alcohol within 45 minutes of the event ending.  If we feel someone is abusing this policy and/or seems to be unable to handle an adult beverage, we will remove the beverage and if needed arrange an Uber/Lyft.

FOR ALL PRIVATE EVENTS:

Alcohol Corkage Fee: For private & team building events in our Studio, we do not provide alcohol however, you may BYO by paying a $10/bottle corkage fee in advance.  A “bottle” is considered 750ml or a 6pk of beer/seltzer.  One bottle per two people is permitted.

Corkage fee includes: wine glasses, cocktail napkins, uncorking, and LCF chill method.

WHAT MAKES LCF BETTER?

We have a strong passion for food because we get that food is life. We love teaching by example and have a lot of restaurant insider examples and practical (not commonly known) techniques to offer to make your life easier and better. But aside from giving you the world’s greatest best kept restaurant and kitchen secrets, we’ve been told we offer a fun, dare we say cool experience in getting this information – at our Let’s Cultivate Food cooking classes.

The experience – At our lofty studio with a chic 12 foot pub style table, with super fun little kitchen gadget shop (everything is mostly $7 and we often give them away during food trivia while you’re eating), and our uncommon attention to fun details (like our sriracha bottle soap dispensers), or our own hipster music channel (w our own commercials) – our unique Manayunk studio offers a great environment to spend a few hours learning, celebrating, or any other reason that brings you there.

OR

In the comforts of your designated space (office or home), we’ll unpack all of the goodness of our studio classes at your location. We’re mobile.

We’re not like processed foods – We never pretend to be something we’re not. We would never use Photoshop to fake fun, add fake reviews on our website to give false impressions, give ourselves grand titles, etc.. You get the point. Our classes and experiences are ‘grade A’ – ‘farm fresh’ AWESOMENESS! We let our reputation speak for itself. ..and we thank you PHILLY for that!!

ABOUT our LCF Manayunk studio

Tucked away in trendy Manayunk lies the hidden LCF studio.  We are open for publicly listed and private events.  We can also meet there for catering consultations.  This is one of LCF properties and with this lofty studio, ideal for cooking classes and small catered events, comes access to parking which for many is a great convenience in the area. We are not available for walk-in traffic and request that all appointments be scheduled.  Thank you!

LCF Food trivia

Ok!  At the next class or event, ask us to do some food trivia for prizes. At some point, this question WILL come up. Google it, and you’re sure to get a free gadget. And the question is.. “How many squirts does it take to get a gallon of milk from a cow?”

LET'S CULTIVATE FOOD RADIO - REALLY?

Yes, It’s true that we have our own studio music channel.  The music goes with the flow of the class with intermittent LCF announcements & fun commercials. The type of music is considered modern hipster and changes monthly and will only connect within close proximity of the studio.
